Young Folks (magazine)

''Young Folks'' was a weekly children's literary magazine published in the United Kingdom between 1871 and 1897. It is most notable for having first published a number of novels by Robert Louis Stevenson in serial form, including ''Treasure Island'', ''Kidnapped'', and ''The Black Arrow''.
''Young Folks'' went under a number of different names in its 26-year history:
*''Our Young Folks' Weekly Budget'' (1 January 1871 – 28 June 1879) (447 editions)
*''Young Folks'' (5 July 1879 – 20 December 1884) (326 editions)
*''Young Folks' Paper'' (27 December 1884 – 28 June 1891)
*''Old and Young'' (4 July 1891 – 11 September 1896)
*''Folks at Home'' (18 September 1896 – 29 April 1897)
The editor of the magazine was James Henderson. ''Young Folks'' serialised ''Treasure Island'' in 1881–82 under the title ''Treasure Island; or, the mutiny of the Hispaniola'' and under the pseudonym ''Captain George North''. ''The Black Arrow''—published under the same pseudonym—was serialised between June and October 1883. ''Kidnapped'' was serialised in the magazine from May to July 1886.
